Breast Care Fund
The Burney Breast Unit at St Helens Hospital is now home to a new piece of cutting-edge equipment that will be a huge boost to patients thanks to fundraisers and a gift in will from a former patient.
The ‘Faxitron’ provides our breast cancer surgical team with immediate access to high-resolution imaging and biopsy reporting during an operation.
Every two years, the Burney Breast Unit hosts a charity ball to raise money for equipment such as this which will lead to improved patient outcomes.

Children's Fund
It can be scary coming into hospital, especially for children.
At Whiston Hospital, our aim was to make it a little easier for our patients and their families by creating a children's outdoor play area which is suitable for all ages and abilities. It is a safe environment for our younger patients to get some fresh air and play, to take their minds off their treatment for a little while.
In just 20 weeks the £20,000 target was exceeded due to the generosity and support of the local community.

Maternity Theatres
We were delighted to support the Maternity Theatre Team at Whiston Hospital by facilitating the purchase and installation of digital skylights using charitable funds. This followed feedback from patients as well as team members' own experience of being parents.
Ria Agass Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, said: "Lots of our patients have had a long and emotive journey to get to the birth of their baby, so it makes a huge difference to be in a really calm and tranquil environment which is exactly what the skylights help provide".

Lilac Centre Fund
A beautiful and calming room has been created in the Lilac Centre at St Helens Hospital.
The room will be used to support patients receiving cancer treatments, providing a quiet space for counselling and holistic therapies.

Neonatal & Maternity Units
The funding of reclining chairs has given a much-improved patient experience for fathers, partners and families as they enable the overnight stay of partners on the Maternity Ward at Ormskirk Hospital and the Neonatal Unit at Whiston Hospital.
Initiatives such as the creation of these facilities for them to stay, especially during the birth of their baby, are so important at such a special time.

Elderly Care & Dementia Fund
Our Dementia and Delirium team at Southport Hospital planned a series of simple but very effective changes for wards 7A, 10B and 11A.
A post box, and door wraps are all bright and colourful additions which help to aid navigation and reduce anxiety amongst patients.
